MacBook wireless problem

I'm not a happy man, my 5 day old Macbook has had 3 panics today and they all seem to be because of the Airport. The wireless connection keeps dropping out when showing it has a full signal and I can't bring up a webpage. I tested the other laptops in the house and they are all fine on the wireless so its not a fault with the router.

I have made an apointment at the Apple store in the Trafford centre for tomorrow hopefully they will be able to help me. Do you think they will replace it there even though I ordered it from the online store? its the cheapest stock model btw.

Re: MacBook wireless problem

check the channel setting - IIRC it is set at 1 for default which causes problems - try moving it up to 6, 7, 8 and see if it drops from there ...

Re: MacBook wireless problem

Thanks, I tried all the channels from 1-13 and it still happened. I tried changing to a different encryption method too and no luck. From reading a thread on macrumours it sounds like its a faulty Airport card.

Re: MacBook wireless problem

I was wrong about the apple card. I just had a replacement macbook delivered and it suffers from the very same problem. After looking on apples support forum it seems there are a lot of people affected by this problem. The cause of the problem seems to come from the 10.4.10 update. Here is the link incase anyone else is having a similar issue http://discussions.apple.com/thread....08143&tstart=0

I was glad I found it tbh because I was about to send it back and get a refund and save myself some money.

Re: MacBook wireless problem

I am just restoring my os to 10.4.9 so I can view the internet without having to restart everytime. The problem dosen't seem to arise when runnning on the mains power though, I hope they sort out a fix for it soon.
