ordered one from digital direct 2 weeks ago!!! not in stock so cancelled and ordered from amazon for £568.47!! not the cheapest but next day delivery!! got the item and got to say its very dissapointing!!!1 sending back on monday!!!! wouldnt recommend this to anyone. now ive got 1100 quid out till they both refund me!!!!

Hi Mate,

Can i ask how easy it is to return to Amazon? do we have to pay the return postage and does the box need to be unopened? Cause the thing is, i just bought the Sony STR-DA5200ES and although it is a very impressive piece of kit, i'm having issues getting 1080p from my PS3 through the amp. so just need to know how long i have and how easy it is to return stuff back to them.

phoned amazon about returning the 2016, told them that i had opened it and used it and they said ok to return within 30 days! just hope this is true cos ive paid for 2 and i will now be purchasing something else so hope they refund me.
on paper the 2016 looks a impressive buy but i was dissapointed with the clarity and depth of the sound in all formats, the 2016 was replacing a old yam a990 which ive had for years, its now back in position till i get something else. one of the reasons for getting the 2016 was the ipod compatibility, i assumed it would come with a docking base but it just had a bulky lead to connect to ant the on screen display is something similar to a old spectrum 48K that i once owned!! only got the amp yesterday but was dissapointed from the start.

Did you have a play with the settings? Amps are never really that good out of the box, it's not until you have delved deep into all the settings that you get a good idea of how the amp performs.

had a good play with all the settings last night done the saving private ryan and the gladiator thing, done the auto calibration and then the manual setup, but it was clear from the start that this wasnt the amp for me, thought id have another go htis morning but to no avail, been looking at the denon avr2807, anyone got this amp? problem is there arent any local dealers that demo kit so its like buying blind. most places around here just concentrate on tv's now. any recomendations welcome!!

I am very surprised at your comments Steve. I have a 2016 and an AXA4Si in two seperate setups and having compared the 2016 to Sony, Yamaha, Denon and a couple of other brands I preferred the Pioneer. Speaker choice has a lot to do with any amp and you have not mentioned what you are using.

Surely you checked to see what was supplied, particularly if iPod connectivity was that important? I have not played with iPods, I regard them as a young persons fashion statement, but that's probably down to my age.

i suppose that i assumed it would come with a dock for the ipod like whats available with other manufactures, not just a lead so you have the ipod lying around, i am running ms908i's and mission surounds, i dont really want a sub which is why i got the 908i's, my old yam runs them quite well with depth and clarity, but it was time for a upgrade, so the 2016 ticked all the boxes but i dont think anyone could run it without a dedicated sub as it just hasnt got the depth of bass that most including myself require.

You can buy a dock for an iPod, but only the lead comes in the box. Anyway the 2016 was discontinued a while back so you might want to look at its replacement - the VSX-LX50:
