Unhappy Screen for Wii!!!

hey everyone. I've built a new PC recently and ditched my old set-up of laptop and TV set in favour of an LCD screen. Little did i realise that getting an acceptable set-up for the Wii would be such a bane. I've now thrown a lot of money at the situation to try and get something good but I'm still not happy!

Currently I've got the wii set-up to a 17inch CRT which i got especially for that reason - I have the wii running through a component > VGA box and the picture is smooth. It's quite a dark image though (due to the converter box) and I have the issue of not being able to display non progressive scan signals (certain Wii games, ALL PAL GC games).

The GC/Wii looked incredible on my modern Samsung 17inch TV through RGB scart, really sharp, colourful and smooth. I just want to be able to get something that is not a CRT TV that will accept both interlaced and progressive signals and look really good. I don't care about what connection I use (I have both the RGB scart and Component cables for the wii) I just want to get something that will work nicely. I'm really starting to get wound up at the situation.

I see there is a fairly cheap Samsung LCD "SM940MW" that accepts both RGB Scart and Component connections. This should surely cover everything, but is the RGB scart likely to be any good at 480i 60hz and is the component even gonna be any good on this set. On the 19inch LCD i'm using now the Wii looked horrible through my component box (although from testing, hardly any 19inch lcd's can even accept the signal it outputs).

Alternatively I could get a HD-TV but i need to know that it will have a great image through RGB scart or component again (obviously accepting 480i @ 60hz for non-progressive outputs). Looked a 20 inch Sony but again I wonder if the scaling is gonna be decent...

Can anyone help me out here, I'm definitely at the end of the road with this and well ****** off that I can't get anything that rival my old RGB scart set-up...

peace, Matt.

Re: Screen for Wii!!!

ON PC monitors/HDTV's, the Wii will never look as good as it did on your RGB Scart TV, as the picture is being scaled to map the number of pixels on your display, just imagine the picture being scaled to twice it's size, pixelated graphics, that sort of thing, best thing to do is just find an old SD LCDTV, as that would give you the best picture...,regarding he 480i it is a pain, best of getting an LCDTV...
