Harmony 655 buttons dying

I love my Harmony, but it seems to be slowly dying. First the channel and volume buttons stopped responding. I got around this by programming the buttons by the display. Now one of those is playing up. I works if you press it just right.

Is this a known problem? Could it be a loose connector or something? I'm willing to open it up if there will be something I can do, but I wouldn't know where to start yet. The fact that volume and channel failed at the same time seems to imply it was not the buttons themselves.

Of course it's out of warranty.

Thanks

Re: Harmony 655 buttons dying

It's quite common as the remotes get older. Oil from your fingers seeps through the button rubber and gums up the contacts. You can normally fix it by pulling the remote apart and cleaning the button contacts with some rubbing alcohol or similar.
