Lots of good news
http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents
Digital Bits 'MY TWO CENTS' 20th of June 2007.
1 - Possibility that 'Death Proof' & 'Kill Bill: THe Whole Bloody Affair' are coming.
2 - A withdrawn annoluncement from MGM about a Leone boxed-set on BD.
Whilst the announcement has been withdrawn (we don't know why) I say "There's no smoke without fire!" (or some other bland cliche meaning I have my fingers crossed).
You can read more about the latter here:
http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...ay_Revival/710
BTW, if 'Death Proof' & 'KB:TWBA' hit high def, they'll be HD DVD-exclusive, unless Weinstein have a change of heart.

Re: Lots of good news
From digital bits,
The Weinstein Company are finally readying Quentin Tarantino's ultimate Kill Bill and Death Proof, along with Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror presumably, for release on DVD this fall.
This is regular DVD, not HD-DVD or BluRay.

Re: Lots of good news
The Weinstein releases mentioned are only linked as SD DVD at the moment.
But the 2-part 'Kill Bill' is due on Blu-ray Disc from BV later this year (release date currently speculative, I believe).
I seem to remember Weinstein's split with Disney/BV being less than ammicable - you'd think maybe they don't want to do their ex-partners any favours.
If people are Kill Bill fans they'll already have the DVDs. Do you think they're more likely to want to double-dip on the original releases on BD, or the full version on HD DVD?

Re: Lots of good news
I have the Kill Bills on dvd (indeed the Japanese one also with the full colour etc etc), and I wouldn't hesitate to double dip. These films should look absolutely fantastic on HD given the colours etc.
I only have the HDDVD player, so pray that it will come out on that format. Otherwise I may have to seriously consider going into BlueRay, as
Kill Bills / James Bond and Rocky are all titles I want.

But apparently they have an exclusive deal with blockbuster for the next four years, and if you've seen the announcement about blockbuster choosing blu-ray, then maybe they'll go format neutral.

Re: Lots of good news
KB1 = 111 minutes
KB2 = 137 minutes
Total = 248 minutes
Obviously, you might save a little time with the titles, but a 247 minute version looks like it's just the other 2 films spliced together, rather than anything more than that.
I'll still be buying it if it has a high def release, though!
But here's the rub - that's a 4 hour film. Will it fit on one HD DVD disc? Spread over 2? Lossless soundtrack? Extras? I wonder what the 4 discs are for on the SD version.
