Electric Screens

Im planning to make an investment in an electric screen but am really confused as to how these things get set up, so have a couple of questions if anyone can help

1. Is there an easy way to get power up to the screen, do you need to take a spur off the lighting circuit or existing plugs circuit or something?

2. If a screen comes with a switch and no remote is it possible to add a remote later on?

3. I have read things about people having the screens automatically go up and down as a result of turning the PJ on and off, is this possible?

4. Everything at the moment runs through my HTPC, so is it possible to have the screen controlled from the HTPC somehow?

Any answers are appreciated

Re: Electric Screens

1. You can plug most directly into the mainss.

2. With some screens yes.

Re: Electric Screens

Hi toddy98274,
Most of the domestic screens can be plugged straight into a 13A plug socket unless you want the cables hidden in which case you could tap into the nearest stable 13 amp supply. An electrical diagram of your house to find the nearest cable/spur would come in handy.
There are several Remote Control kits available for electric screen. some with Infra Red and others with Radio Frequency.
Some projectors have a 12 volt trigger output which can be linked either directly to the screen (if it has this option built in) or via the 12 volt trigger kits.
With PC control, you will probably have to go through some conversion first. You need some type of relay from the PC the device which offers the 12v trigger.
I'll look into this tomorrow and get back to you if i find anything.
