anyone give advice on this set-up?

HI
im looking to buy a new amp and speakers and stuff, im on a budget really though.
so far im pretty set on this:
cheap amp,but its got all i need, but i dont really know if its any good, ?
- ive also got a 2.1 bose acoustimass III series III. im pretty sure its an old system, but im thinking, for a man on a budget, these speakers should do me fine? i dont have much information on these, so if anyone wants to offer enlightenment, it would be much apreciated.
finally i was planning on buying that speaker for the center.

only problem i have now is i dont know where i can pick up 2 other regular small speakers for the two rear outputs... so it would be nice if someone pointed me in the right direction

anyway, like i said before, if you have any ideas on how i could make the set-up im planning on getting, it would be very apreciated

cheers

Save yourself the hassle http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/5420...ema-5-1-s.html get the complete package. Or sell the Bose system for what ever you can get and get a speaker system worth having like this http://www.petertyson.co.uk/ebuttonz...premiere.shtml bargin and great sound and it includes quality interconnects.

wow, that first yahama looks really good, and fits perfectly in my price range.
i acknowledge that this system probably isnt the most powerfull, but with 5x100W output, its surely better than my current system.
flogging the bose speakers should bring me around £60 i think, so thats not bad.

I am assuming you like th sound of the Bose ? So why not buy the best AV amp you can afford - Yamaha , Denon or Cambridge(the latter are good with music) and then when funds allow replace the speakers. Have you thought of contacting a Bose dealer to see if extra rear satelites and a matching ctr speaker can be bought to go with what you have?BTW its important to match ctr with front lft and rgt.

its a question og getting the tone right, The rears are not so important as they are for sounbd effects but the ctr is the main hombre for you get all the dialogue from there and it needs to to work well with the two fronts.maybe if you just bought a matching ctr for now and got some cheapy rears later from Ebay.Tbh I dont know Bose that well but would have thought it was worth contacting a dealer.
do they look like these?

Re: anyone give advice on this set-up?

Watch it with the Acoustimass module. I'm not up on Bose, but the satellites are pretty delicate, and easily blown. I believe they are controlled through the Acoustimass module, and sometimes they cannot be used with normal amps.

Have a search round on the forums, there's plenty of people who have asked similar questions, and I'm sure you'll find some useful info.
