blood diamond, blu-ray and hd-dvd
why is it possible to get the blu-ray of this now, but to get the hd-dvd we've got to wait another 2 weeks odd, if they carry on like this hd-dvd will only go one way, i for one will be ordering it on blu-ray just because of its earlier release date, come on hd-dvd camp what you doing!

Re: blood diamond, blu-ray and hd-dvd
The reason for the slight delay, as its out on july the 3rd in the states.
The HD-DVD has advanced special features that are not available on blu ray. Web enhanced features, which is a first on hd dvd.
hopefully the picture quality will be better thatn the bluray given the extra 1 month.

Blood Diamond HD is supposed to be the first disc that has the interactive content streamed thru the internet connection to our HD-DVD players i.e. additional footage and extras which will be unavalible on Blu-ray until they get there act together from Oct onwards. This is why discs such as Matrix trilogy are not being released on that format till after that month.

Re: blood diamond, blu-ray and hd-dvd
Watched this last night, and what a superb film.
It managed to be horrific (almost to the point of being unwatchable at times - and that's from a gore film veteran), moving, exciting, and 'worthy' all at the same time.
People complaining about the transfer need their bumps felling. 'A bit soft in the dark scenes'? Any chance that might be because you can see less detail in the dark?
I tend not to examine every aspect of ever 'challenging' scene looking for defects (I prefer to actually watch and enjoy the film), but some of the African scenery is truly awe-inspiring, right up there with the best bits of 'Planet Earth', and undelining the fact that this place appears to be both heaven and hell at the same time.
I watched the HD DVD, but I understand the BD transfer is identical.
Thoroughly recommended. Particularly if your girlfriend keeps nagging you to buy her a bit more bling.

Re: blood diamond, blu-ray and hd-dvd
I watched this on Blu-Ray a few weeks ago, and was very impressed with the transfer and the film. There are a few panning shots which really juddered on my LCD. Must make sure my new set does 24hz

Re: blood diamond, blu-ray and hd-dvd
I got Blood Diamond in the 2 for £30 deal in Gamestation at the weekend. I thought the PQ was superb and it was a really good film as well. Leonardo DiCaprio is simply outstanding in it. I have the Blu-Ray version.

I HATE Leonardo DiCaprio!
But I even I must concede that he's not at all bad in this one.
