British Tennis

Although I'm from Scotland, one of the most British things that came into my head was tennis, especially Wimbledon and Tim Henman. I happened to have an old-ish tennis raquet which would be appropriate, and luckily I have my new Canon 400D to use

Exif is embedded, and as follows:

Shutter Speed: 1/500th
Aperture: F5
Focal length: 41mm
ISO: 100

Just had to crop the image, and up the brightness a tad.

Re: British Tennis

Good job you didn't pick a Greg Rusedski racquet! Not sure this one shouts Britishness to me (4/10 Tobers Britishness rating) but I see what you are trying to do. Nice use of depth of field and sharp focus on the writing on the racquet.

Re: British Tennis

Nice photo and great DOF.

I personally would have preferred to see more of the racquet...but that's just my opinion.

Great entry anyway.

Re: British Tennis

I can see what you were thinking with this one, but doesnt immediately say British, but its a good photo in its own right

(Dont want to put the mockers on this entry Scharf, but Tim Henman never won the big comp either)

Re: British Tennis

That's the image resized as asked for, and also I would have rather put a raquet in with Andy Murray on it yet, but I dont think he has branded equipment yet :P Even better to put Federer, but he's not British therefore taking away from the theme.

I can understand why a lot of people don't think it's on theme, but to be honest other ideas I had were never going to happen, therefore thought it was better to put an entry in rather than not, even though I know it won't win (and thats the truth, i'm not being defetist)

Thanks, Scharf

Re: British Tennis

A nicely composed image. I can see the link. Tim Henman is British. And the only major grasscourt tennis tournament is in Britain. The rest of the world plays tennis on hard or clay courts.

Re: British Tennis

Yeah, I like it - technically nice and the tennis racket on grass with Henman's name says British to me.

Re: British Tennis

I think it's great - and I liked your 'over the edge' a couple of months back, great dof.

would you explain a little about the set up for the shot? (what lense, distance to subject, focal point etc)...

I'm trying to increase the amount of focus I get, but would love to know how you got so much at a close distance...
