Some help with 'Watch TV' activity on my Harmony 1000 please?

I have my Harmony set up and virtually how i want it, but just a couple of questions if any one can help?

Remote - Harmony 1000
TV - Pioneer PDP-427XD

I have set up my favorite channels on the Watch TV activity but when i press any of the channel buttons it changes channel but also brings up the 'on-screen channel list navigator box' (don't know what this is really called) i then have to press enter to get rid of this which means it is now 2 buttons to change channel!

For example i have set up ITV1 as channel number 003 (i had set it up as just 3 initially which did not change channel, just brings the box up).

Also, is there any way to make the favourites screen default on selecting this activity as the keypad screen is effectively made secondry my having a favourites screen!

Last question - is there any way to add a 'side panel' on your Watch TV activity like there is on the DVD navigator screen, i was thinking this would be great for functions like EPG, Text, Menu to save changing screen

Thanks to any answers!
