Re: British Beef
As a veggie I winced as I clicked on the thread. Thankfully it's not the gruesome image I imagined
It's a cracking shot. Focus, composition, colours and DoF are superb to my eye. Maybe the eye is ever so slightly too close to the edge of the frame, but it works for me.
I guess it's going to come down to whether it communicates 'britishness' enough at the end of the day. But I love the shot.
Gotta love the nifty

Re: British Beef
Oh it almost looks like you could touch the hair. Very detailed shot, sharp and good colours.
Can I ask, why did you choose such a close up shot?

cause you can, cows can be a bit boring and wanted to capture their eyes which are really beautiful, which i hope ive managed
this shot was only cropped on the left hand edge to take away too much green and wanted to get close to capture the detail of the eye, it would have been nice to have the whole nose Froggy, i agree

Re: British Beef
Received the original Dan but there was no need as exif embedded mate.
Can I ask you to resize the picture though as the file size is over twice that allowed, no more than 200kb for embedding, cheers

Re: British Beef
Up close and personal me thinks
Lovely image but doesnt quite shout out 'Britishiness' to me. sorry.
Would have like to see the nose in focus but you have caputured the hair on the cows face perfectly.

Re: British Beef
The focus point looks pretty much spot on to me and the sharpness is a lovely example of the value for money that the 50mm f/1.8 gives. I took a similar shot a while back here but didn't get in as close as you did. It doesn't scream 'Britishness' to me but it's a nice image none the less.

Re: British Beef
That's a cracking shot - I like the interpretation of the subject and was very pleasantly suprised to see it (I thought it was going to be a real detailed shot of a rump steak or something).
