Calibration worth doing on my system

Im currently running a PWD7 , DVD-3800 and Sony Freeview box i also have both my sony freeview and denon dvd player hooked up to my HD+ via component and RGBHV to my screen , ive played about with the settings loads of time's and while some content looks pretty good , ROTS for example im dissapointed with others , spiderman 2 for example


So do you think i could benefit from a calibration,do you think i would see a great improvment ? and how much roughly would it cost to set up

Hi Trevor,

I am a firm believer in calibration. I have a PWD6 myself and use an external video processor with it. I recently tried out some resolutions to the panel that I'd not done before and within seconds I was reaching for my calibration kit as it was so obviously not correct compared to what I watch every day.

Most folk tend to use forums to complain about things rather than to praise, but this forum seems to have alot of folk praising calibration rather than poo-pooing it. I think that is quite telling.

Myself and the other calibrators on this forum are not allowed to directly answer how much we would charge for your calibration. All I think it's possible to say is that calibration charges usually start around £275 ish. You should seek out some of the ISF guys on here and contact them directly for exact costings. If you do get it done, please come back and let everyone know if you thought it worthwhile.

Hi Trevor,

I am a firm believer in calibration...

So am i after Gordon calibrated my PWD8 last year :thumbsup: . I was pleased with the PQ before the calibration, but the way Gordon improved it was very impressive, more detail, better more natural looking colours. Like others on this site I think it's the most cost efective upgrade i've ever had.

i think it would be worth doing with my current set up tbh but ill have to save up some "more" cash to get it done :rolleyes: oh well its all good fun i suppose :thumbsup:
