Sony HC3 Software help

what should I use, I borrowed a friends HC3 - great bit of Kit, and i've got firewire on my desktop, but the machines quite old now (AMD 2800+) so some of the newer software wont work on it, I want to get the video down in HiDef format (just to play more than anything) but I need to get a dvd done for this weekend if possible in standard format (anything you guys can recommend would be great).

Re: Sony HC3 Software help

To simply capture you could use HDVsplit; it's free

For editing I suggest trying Sony Vegas Platinum; it has some of the more modest Pc requirements

Note that Vegas can also do the capturing, and if it is Version 7 splitting into scenes so you won't need HDV split if you buy that.

Re: Sony HC3 Software help

You will likely find it bundled with a version of Abobe's Premiere (which will do the job fine). Sony's PC arm and video software arm don't seem to be able to work together... .so they end up bundling their competitors software with their PCs rather than their own!
