Subwoofer Setup Help

Ok im pretty new to this game... and need some help!

I have a Pioneer VSX-916 Amp, Celestion CS6i Floorstanding Speakers and a Celestion A6s subwoofer.

My main speakers are working fine but i cant get anything from my subwoofer!

I have run the auto MACC program and i can hear a few small noises from the sub, but then nothing comes out of it.

Mabee its the cabling? Or something i havent set up right?

Its driving me mental...

Re: Subwoofer Setup Help

Well the first thing would be to start eliminating maybes.

Cable first, have you tried plugging it in somewhere else instead of another cable? Try it instead of your digital coaxial cable from the DVDP to the amp, for instance.

Re: Subwoofer Setup Help

Most amps have a setting to determine what frequencies & level to send to the sub output.

Check that you have the sub output from the amp turned on.
My old sherwood had a sub on/off setting but my current yamaha has Sub/Main/Both

Also if your pic below is anything to go by you should set the input level between 20 - 30% and the crossover frequency to maximum.

Thanks mate will check this out! but...

I took off the speakers just too have a peak... and to my shock horror... one of the magnets was sitting at the bottom of the box!!! oh so this explains it all(including the strange rattling)... the two speakers get connected by negative i think... i did kinda let the first driver slip so im not 100% sure where it should be plugged back in... not easy lifting heavy subs with a broken wrist!!!

I hate to say it but it might be time to go shopping...

Do persevere though...
