Trainspotting sound

I watched Trainspotting last night for the first time in a few years. The film was great but the sound seemed very flat. I remembered it as being quite good. Have I just got used to more dynamic soundtracks over the past few years or is the sound a bit crap?

I have the region 2 DVD by the way.

I'm "pretty" sure trainspotting was made in dolby pro-logic, so unless it's been re-mixed, this could be why..
