PS3 1080p24 into Lumagen HDQ
Currently have the PS3 feeding 1080i into the Lumagen. Can someone post a very quick step by step instruction to change the Lumagen settings to accept the new 1080p24 from the PS3, and output correctly? Thanks

Re: PS3 1080p24 into Lumagen HDQ
You shouldn't have to change anything. Just set the PS3 to output 1080p24 and it should work I'd expect. I will test mine later this evening with luck

Thanks Gordon, I'll also have a play when I get in. If you find you need to change any settings, please post .

Re: PS3 1080p24 into Lumagen HDQ
I've tried mine, without much luck.
I'm not sure what settings to use but mine says its inputting 1080i before outputting 1080p. Any ideas?

Re: PS3 1080p24 into Lumagen HDQ
I think I see the problem. I believe you need to set the main resolution to 1080p for the 1080p24 to work. But, the main 1080p setting is 1080p60 whch the Lumagen can't work with, so you can't use that setting, and therefore have no access to 1080p24

Chris,
This works a treat with the PS3 set to 1080i.
Set the 1080p24 option on the PS3 to automatic - this was the default after update for me anyway.
Select the memory you normally use for BR playback (the one which gives you 1080i60 IVTC to 1080p24 in your current config).
Bring up the menu on the Lumagen and look at IN xx / OUTSEL. Basically that's menu/right/down/right.
Use up/down arrows until IN RES says 1080i and note number under OUTCFG.
Press down arrow once until IN RES says "OTHER" and use left/right arrow to change OUTCFG number to same as one used for 1080i.
Press "OK" to accept change.
Then left once, down 3 times to SAVE, and press OK 3 times.
Voila
If this doesn't work then you may have to twiddle with the EDID settings. I don't know, mine was already set to USER with 1080p24 (amongst others) enabled.
The only other thing I had to do is adjust BTMR for that input/memory by a couple of pixels as I had a small amount of "noise" on the RHS. You hopefully won't have this problem...
Rob.

Re: PS3 1080p24 into Lumagen HDQ
Since posting last night I've had a play and although of not interest to Chris with his 1080p PJ this may be of interest to those of us with a 720p PJ.
I've found I can set the PS3 to 720p max resolution and it will still switch to 1080p24 for Blu-ray playback
Just a shame you can't make the Lumagen switch input "TYPE" dependant on input resolution, so 720p 444 RGB for games, pictures etc and 444 Component for Blu-ray. Have to either change manually (which isn't really any hardship) or use a different memory to change input type.

Re: PS3 1080p24 into Lumagen HDQ
I'm half way there, but not fully sorted.
I changed EDID to user, and the Lumagen now reports 1080p24 in, and 1080p 23.98 out, but its contstantly stuttering. Any ideas to try?

Sounds right. In my case it's 1080p24 in and 720p 47.95Hz out.
Is Genlock on (keep pressing "OK", 4 times I think) a see if it says "LOCKED".
What firmware are you running?
I'm running latest. You need to run 030107 or later. 022007 can cause stutter when using 1080p24 out (bug fixed in 030107).

Re: PS3 1080p24 into Lumagen HDQ
Yep, Genlock is on. I've tried a few things but nothing seems to smooth out playback. Its not vital as I can output 1080p24 anyway, but it would be good to find out what the problem is

Hmm, well if you want to send your PJ to me to have a play with I'll be happy to try a few things
Seriously, I think someone who's using 1080p24 in and 1080p24 out might be needed here.
I seem to think "Avi" on the forum has the necessary kit to try this.

Re: PS3 1080p24 into Lumagen HDQ
Chris,
Did you get any further with this?
I'm beginning to think that things aren't quite as good as I first thought.
I've watched a couple of Blu-ray's this weekend and in both cases have reverted to 1080i60 with the HDQ doing IVTC as I noticed the occasional (random and oftern un-repeatable) judder within the first 20/30 mins or so of the movie when using 1080p24.
When back on 1080i60 everything was perfect again
Rob.

Re: PS3 1080p24 into Lumagen HDQ
Hi Rob, I've left mine at 1080i60. I could get 1080p24 working but only with constant stutter, and Randy reported he didn't have a PS3 to test it. I can't see it makes any difference anyway so happy with the HDQ doing the IVTC

Re: PS3 1080p24 into Lumagen HDQ
Chris, thanks for that.
Disappointing to hear that Lumagen can't lay their hands on a PS3 to test with.
