The Driver- BWMfilm
never heard of these before but BMW has commissioned a series of internet available short films from top (and I do mean TOP) hollywood directors and actors. Much like the Michael Mann directed Lucky Star Mercedes advert the films are ultimately commercials but when they look this cool who cares!?! The films are all based around 'The Driver' played by Clive Owen.
There are six or so currently available to download or stream with more available over the coming month but I've just emailed BWM to see if they are going to release them or if they already available in DVD or tape. Names involved include Guy Ritchie, John Frankenheimer, John Woo, Tony Scott, and the like.
Go see for yourself

These have been around for awhile. The one with Madonna that Guy Ritchie directed is pretty good.

Series 1 of these films was available on a free dvd/5.1 soundtrack/animorphic/etc - you just had to e-mail them and you were sent a copy,I posted this over a year ago on this forum, and loads of people recieved theirs, only trouble was I did not get a copy and I started the thread !! guess BMW took a dislike to me posting that their stuff was free to everyone
Have re-submitted the question every couple of months to be told time and time again - "due to the high demand, there is a backlog,blah/blah........... pah!! and the films look really good, shame I`ll never see them on my dvd player.

I had a region 1 version, about 6 months ago but give it away. O
One of them is directed by Guy Ritchie and features Madonna being thrown around the back of the car.
The films all follow the driver of a BMW for the day and are really good. they all come together to form one story, and if I remember rightly, they can be played together to form one movie

Thanks for posting about this James45. I've just downloaded two of them, and they rock! (Helps that I love Beamers).
Pity you can't get them on DVD anymore.
Thanks again.

got an email back from the press office and they said they were only availlable from the internet, so shows how much they know. Although she did say they were planning on burning a cd of them. I'll get back to her regarding the DVD on Monday and see if I can get one.

Hi,
This may be of important relevance to those of you who already have the DVD:
Originally, there were 5 films on the DVD. However, due to copyright issues, one of the films had to be dropped (I think it was the one by the Spanish director of "Amores Perres").
As such, when BMW redid the disc, if people try selecting that particular film on the DVD, a little text screen comes up, saying that the film is no longer available on DVD, due to copyright issues. So, be wary! If you do get the DVD, it is likely to be the new version with just 4 of the films.
There was a mention of this, about 6 months ago, in "Video Watchdog".

Website now includes a section for US residents to confirm their interest in a DVD of all the Series 2 films.
Quick call to the UK Press Office and my copy has been reserved!
