You mean " media enclosure's " for housing a hdd , then yes there really quite good especaily if you have a hdtv . most hdd's seem to work ok on 5960 if the drive is formatted in FAT 32 -the Aqua media plus comes with fat 32 driver to format any hdd for storing many of your media files .once done linking up to your 5960's usb socket is a doddle -just use the aqua's remote to play your video file's or music its really that easy . you can see the aqua media plus here for quite a good price £38 ..............

hope this helps

cheers, it certainly does help.
So basically, i plug my ext hdd into the agua (if i go this route) and link it to my TV and it'll work the films from my hdd (acting as a kind of router) or plug straight into a 5960 dvd and hey presto.
excellent, will make a decision. the dvd is £44.99 inc del now. may go for that agua thing as i could put a new hdd in and use it for extra storage or could i use it like a media pc?

The Aqua media as a vga socket plus composite & component AV outputs
giving you three choices of connection , ie .. to a pc monitor / hdtv / crt tv and also if you have a philips 5960 via usb . i found the 5960's usb socket was my best option as it displays any widescreen video in full size , depending if you have a wide screen tv or a hdtv ( my tv is only a 32" sony crt ) but if you have a hdtv i say connecting to component is the best option . but that just depends on what you want to connect it to ?
so if you do go for the 5960 then getting a media enclosure will save you having to burn all your media to dvd plus you gain a nice multi media / storage device all in one

cheers. i will probably go for the dvd player to replace mine and plug the external into there, although i have xbox and xbmc(i would not attempt to modify the memory cab to make a usb), and then the agua when i buy my hdtv. i only have an 26" widescreen crt.

Re: Good cheap DVD player that has USB and HDMI
another option to consider:
"Ebuyer DV-254 HDMI DVD - USB & Card Reader - Upscaler"
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/104108
£39.99 inc.vat (deduct another £10 ie £29.99, if you pay by google checkout) plus £4-5 for delivery (under £35 incl.delivery)
though i didn't have this one with me now, i'd like to buy one soon
