not sure where to post this but need help...

Not sure where to post this and this is the only forum i visit so decided to stick it here!

I currently connect my pc to my tosh 32wlt66 via DVI - HDMI. I can display the picture of the windows desktop fine and can even play trailers on the tv screen when dowloaded from www.apple.com/trailers.
However, when i try to play an avi file through windows media player it will show fine on my pc monitor but on my tv it will only show the windows media player tools (play rewind, file etc etc).. where the video should be it just shows a black screen...

Am i doing something wrong? If so... what?

Thanks for all replies!

Re: not sure where to post this but need help...

unistall all your codecs, divx, xvid and windows media players, re-install windows media player 11 and k-lite codec pack but un-select the divx and xvid codec's when installing.

Update your video driver's to the latest version. Make sure the selected resolution on the TV from the PC is the TV's default resolution. maybe 1440 - 900? or higher

one of these should solve your black screen issue on your second display and any over video issues you may have and not even know about.

Re: not sure where to post this but need help...

thanks nutter!

i assume i can get wmp from the windows website..
where can i get the k-lite codec pack from??

and can i ask the reason for not installing divx and xvid?? will they not be needed by other video files i might want to play?

the tv resolution is set at either 1080i or 720p... whenever i turn on my pc again i need to go through the wizard to connect it to my tv, it never seems to save the settings.. dont know why that is either!??

Re: not sure where to post this but need help...

i get this with some media files, some files will only play on the primary screen i have found.

if you go to display settings you can switch the otehr display to be primary when you want to watch one of thosefiles on the big screen

Re: not sure where to post this but need help...

thanks guys.. is there any reason why my settings are not getting saved from when i shut down my machine?
Would be nice just to turn my tv to the right input rather than having to do that and go through a wizard each time!
