Dual format?

I recently read a comment that dual format owners where in a minority, so I thought I would see how many of us have gone or plan to go dual format.

Regards

John.

Re: Dual format?

I think it would be interesting to see which format was first for the dual format owners,

For me, HD DVD, then Blu-ray [by about a week ]

I think we are not in a minority, but I would love to know which way people went. Considering how these boards were pre-Christmas, I think the reality is a lot of HD DVD owners have moved their position, rather than the other way round. Just conjecture on my part, but I think there may be something in it.

I think the end point is more relevant than the starting position. Hd dvd was out of the block first, so more people would have started with hd dvd.

Re: Dual format?

I bought my HD-DVD players in August/September last year, then the Panny BD in October - so nothing in it really.

Now have more BDs than HD-DVDs - about 65/55

Re: Dual format?

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"]Purchased HD DVD first, then the Panny BD player. When it was time to upgrade the PC I decided to get the sony (will be adding a 360 HD DVD drive soon) and then got the PS3.

I figure I've now covered all of the bases

Re: Dual format?

Im currently SD only, but am waiting for a dual player. I REFUSE to shell out hundreds on seperate players. Once theres a good quality dual player, at a reasonable price, i MIGHT commit.

Any idea of when the dual format players are coming out in force ?

Re: Dual format?

HD-DVD only, at least for the moment. Not much on BluRay that I want to own right now, plus I think the players are overpriced. For now, HD-DVD will do me nicely......

Re: Dual format?

I'm completely at ease with my decision to back Blu-Ray and i'll be sticking with the format exclusively for the next 12-18 months. However, i'm not one for cutting my nose to spite my face, so if by the end of 2008 Universal Studios are still HD-DVD exclusive and they have unleashed some of their 'Big Gun' catalogue titles - Jaws, Jurassic, Vertigo, Schindler's, E.T., Psycho etc- that could tempt me to dip my toe in the HD-DVD pond and go dual format.
