HEEEELP!!! Which sat nav-TomTom or Garmin

I am buying my first sat nav. We are going to Cornwall on Friday along with a million others no doubt and need a sat nav with good traffic re-routing capabilities. I will also be doing alot of contract work up in London soon so needs to have a reliable signal, money not an issue for the right system, upto Garmin 660, TomTom 910

How loud is the speaker when using phone option, checked both websites and have just confused myself, Any help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Hi Russell
I'm just totally biased as have only ever owned a Garmin Nuvi 360 & think it's brilliant (but not perfect). You see a big TomTom v Garmin & others debate on this forum.
There's some really useful users comments on the UK Amazon site.
If money's no object buy the latest TomTom & Garmin & give the 2nd best to the Oxfam shop!!

Hi Russell

In the past week I have owned two TomTom 910's. The first one kept turning itself off and I had to reset it about 20 times. The second one did the same and then just wouldn't switch on at all. Then tried the TomTom 510. That lasted one day and I lost all picture and maps.

Went to Halfords and bought the Garmin Nuvi 660 after doing some research. The Garmin has worked faultlessly for over a week now. It is a great, if not expensive, piece of kit. It has bluetooth which is a must these days. Halfords has a policy that you can return anything within 28 days if you are not satisfied with it.

It appears that TomTom sat nav equipment is constantly being returned for the reasons I have listed above.

Re: HEEEELP!!! Which sat nav-TomTom or Garmin

I just went through the loop of deciding Garmin v TT & after speaking with many users of both, I settled for a TomTom One v2 from Currys for just under £142 inck VAT(with UK maps). Having made the decision I am delighted & would make the same choice again. (The TT One v2 has received rave reviews & is probably the hottest SatNav product currently on sale!)

The TT One v2 is a joy to use .. very very loud & clear .. I am "chuffed to nuts" with mine!

You will not get anything anywhere to beat the current Currys deal! Brilliant VFM. Hope this helps.
