Hi i used to have a lexmark printer (cant remember which one) i used it mainly for printing out text off my pc, but the ink dried up in it before i could use it all so i brought 2 more new cartridges for it costing about £56 and the same thing happened so i got rid of it and not used a printer since. But now i am on the look out for a new printer that uses cheaper ink cartridges lol and gives good print outs any sugestions on what i could get ?

Seems to be pretty dry regarding printers on the hardware section, found one other post that might help.
Recommend me a new Printer (http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=477873&highlight=printers)

Not sure there is a simple catch all solution.
I find myself using 4 printers:
The workhorse is a OKI colour laser, higher upfront investment but the cost per print is lower and it's a lot faster.
I use an HP multi-function for general use copying, faxing and so on, have had a few and happy with them, I use 3rd party inks for this.
For Hi quality photographic, an A3 Epson, I only use original inks only for this.
For labels and such a Dymo labelwriter (no ink)
If you're just printing text, maybe an B/W laser, these are cheap now and don't tend to dry up.

For general use the Brother all in ones are very good, some have network connection and card readers built in if they did disk printing I'd buy one, I use an Epson R200 and a Samsung ML2010 at the moment but will soon be buying a Canon IP600R all in one with disk printing and ethernet connection to replace the Epson and our old scanner.
I think all the major brands are ok, Epson, Canon, Brother, HP. Go down PC World for a look then google the one you like. Check out the running costs, my Epson costs as much in ink as the damned printer was to begin with
My older Lexmark ended up costing more in ink than what the actual printer cost. I didnt want to get another Lexmark or one where the ink costs a fortune lol. Epson Cannon or Hp look ok i think ?

Yes, it's known as the Gillette principle, (all the profits are in the blades).
