I am getting this menu leftover when watching Studio Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle...How the heck do I get rid of it.

Other dvds played straight after dont have this so I reckon the disc's menus are "attaching" to the dvd's subtitle/audio choices that i pick...just cant get rid of it. . .strange thing is that as soon as i press remote "menu" button angle Bar disappears to leave image as it should be then goes to menu screen...but returns when going back to the film. .strange one!

Any ideas?

I take it it's the Pioneer 757Ai you're talking about? If so I have this movie and it plays fine on the machine.

You have tried pressing and re-pressing the 'angle' button I take it?

Yep...no joy just stays stuck on screen. Do you have the same player Paul?

Solved it...went into player's Initial Setiings Display option and there is the option to turn off display Angle Indicator. Strange that it only affects this disc though

I have a similar problem with my Denon DHT 500SD and Studio Ghibli films, at the begining of each scene an icon appears for a couple of seconds before disappearing. Its never happened on any of the other discs i own but it happens on ALL my Studio Ghibli's discs.

I know it's not a major problem but it annoys the hell out of me

I'll look at my players Initial Setings to see if i can turn it off as well.

HI,

Some of the Studio Ghibli DVD's (Region 1, Region 2 UK, and Region 2 Japan) havbe a multi-angle feature. This means that you can sometimes swap between watching the completed film, or watching the scene-by-scene animatic (the pencil sketches) showing how the film-makers went from the original idea to the completed movie. You simply need to press the Angle button on your DVD's handeset, to switch between each altenate "angle" (usually 2, sometimes more).

This is why you get the little "Camera" logo on your DVD player. As you've discovered, this warning/notification can be switched off, but it's actually fun to see how certain scenes in the movie came into being, so-to-speak.

Yeah, I had a couple of Pioneer players in the past. The 1st one absolutely wouldn't allow for turning off the angle symbol, and was a complete pain in the arse. The 2nd did however allow them to be removed, athough the layer changing on this player was terrible. I stick with Toshibas these days.

Well Ive checked some of my discs again and it is indeed the angle icon thats appearing, however i still can't find an option to turn it off!

The instructions state that the setting can be changed so that the icon doesn't appear, but thats it! It doesn't say where this option is and i can't find it. Theres not that many options to go through, it appears not to be there :(

leave the player empty and root around the player's initial settings...I could only find the french manual for your player...French Manual (http://www.denon.fr/scripts/bo/admin/documents/anti_leech.asp?download_file=Notice_DHT500S.pdf&disk_file=6473.byupload)

Display
Angle Indicator

Hmmm i don't have any options regarding the display on mine only ones for aspect ratio, Subtitle,Video out etc. Thankfully the icon on mine is nowhere as intrusive as the one in Diggers.
