View Full Version : Oh dear! My charger has melted :-(
As title really  I have a macbook PRO and ive noticed the battery wasnt lasting very long. I assumed the battery would need replacing but Ive just looked at it now and the part where the cable goes into the magnetic end (im not very technical at the best of times lol) has melted! OMG. Lucky i have a spare charger for a macbook so i can continue with my stuff.
How strange is this! Ive called Apple as im still in warranty and I have to email a photo. Its £50 for a new one so i hope i get free replacement
So keep an eye on your chargers!

You'll probably get a free one. Luckily I live in Manchester and we now have two wonderful shiny Apple stores with Genius Bars and recently my Battery went on my MacBook and they gave me a new one there and then. Can't imagine for a second you'd have to buy a charger when it's clearly not your fault. :)
Look towards the bottom of this story: http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2579 and you'll see you might not be alone ...
Useful site too AppleInsider if anyone hasn't come across it yet !!

I broke my old charger when I tripped over the lead. I bought a non-apple third party one mainly because it was £30 and not £60.
So I leave it to charge my Macbook. Start some work on it about 1 hour later pick it up and I couldn't touch it, it was that hot. Cue 1 dead battery, 1 dead Macbook and 1 dead charger.
The most expensive £30 I'll ever spend and the last time I'll ever buy anything 3rd party for my Macs.
