Hi guys.
Just need to know a simple question about streaming files from my Mac when i get one.
When Microsoft bring out a new xbox 360 in May ( and believe me they will) which will be much quieter than the current ones, i want to be able to access photos, videos, and music on it from my Mac.
What file formats will i have to import stuff onto the mac in? e,g The 360 i believe doesn't support AAC so do i ask i-tunes to rip my music in MP3 format, and that will then still perfectly to the 360?.
What file formats will i have to use for Video as i think the 360 is bloody picky about what files it plays

Hi,
I would think that the questions about which codecs the 360 supports might be better asked in one of the 360 forums.
As far as accessing the files from the 360 (and Windows) , I highly recommend the new airport extreme routers. I have one and with a USB disk plugged into the router, I can access all of my videos and music from my XBMC enabled xbox, Windows XP machine and obviously my Mac. The router does all of the SMB translation necessary to allow the MS based machines to access it. :smashin:
Doesn't the 360 only talk to Windows MCE though??

Hi there!
I use an app from nullriver called connect360, which once installed will stream just about anything, ( I use .wav files from iTunes) to your 360.
It works a treat, I think you can also stream photos and movies, but I'm not sure of the file types.
cheers

P.s. Have you bought that mac yet or are you waiting for leopard?
(don't forget if you or a friend has a Virgin Credit card you can buy COMET vouchers for 13% discount).

Thanks for that connect360 sounds like it's what i may need.
No i haven't got my Mac yet. I was going to but then i keep hearing that Leopard is going to be released in a matter of weeks.
If we are talikng less than 6 weeks away (late Apri, beginning of May) which is when they reckon Leopard is released then i am happy to wait and save £80 on buying the OS.
Plus they are apparently brigning out some revised Mac's. Seems silly to buy now on the verge of a major relaunch of all the macs with Leopard included
I can give the thumbs up to connect360 as well - I use it for music and photos (from itunes and iphoto) the latest version streams video as well but only wmv files if I'm not mistaken

I'll have a look - but i think all I get is a load of questions about media centre!
