I too am waiting for an internal HD DVD drive
I have read on the net that Toshiba are supposed to be releasing a drive early this year, its the SD-H903A but cannot find a proper release date or indication of price
If anyone has any better info on this drive it would be very helpful
Not sure if either of you are still interested, but I've got one of these (http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?prodID=B75140) in my HTPC. :)

Definitely interested, I had a stock watch on these and they keep coming in and out with a very minimal availability
How do they perform in an htpc?
Very tempted for that price as well, seems a bargain!

Buy the xbox one and sit it on top of your PC, no modding required it has a USB lead.

Hi chaps,
I'm going to build a HTPC for one of may mates.
Is it possible to build a Media Centre PC without a normal DVD writer, and just have a HD-DVD drive or BluRay drive?
I'm thinking about whether the BIOS will see the optical drive and whether you can then use it to install Vista.
Also, does Media Centre work ok with just one of these drives?
Kind regards,
Damo

There seems to be plenty of stock in Germany which is where I got mine from, Google for it. Much better than that ugly 360 drive. ;)

I was waiting for the internal one as well, I had my mates 360 drive hooked up when he first got it and although it does work well its all just a bit neater with it being internal
Plus I was prepared to wait due to the price of the HD movies at the time was a bit more than im prepared to pay, especially as I wasnt bowled over by the increase in PQ!
Germany? Any chance of a link to a shop, did it work out ok with customs charges etc

We have a large quantity of OEM stock straight from the supplier, doubt they're will be much in over the next few weeks.
Great drive though, hd-dvd's looking fantastic @ 1080p!

OK guys, so I went and bought the Tosh HD-DVD drive and have the Pioneer BluRay drive on order.
Will be installing the Tosh over the weekend.
My question is this...
My 7210, 1280x720, supports 720p, 1080i and 1080p/24
I intend initially outputting over VGA, should I set the res on my HTPC to 720 for 1-1 pixel mapping or 1920x1080 and let the PJ do some work.
Obviously I'll be testing both, just wanted your opinions as well.
Thanks

Well all installed, HD-DVD, PowerDVD Ultra.... sweet.
Just finsihed Chronicles of Riddick and it looks a treat.
X2 4200+ CPU running about 65% so hopefully NVidia will fix the PureVideo HD on XP soon. Looking forward to catching up with some other titles now !

Great drive, adds great functionality to a media pc. Lots of the drives here.
Powerdvd Ultra is also cracking software, leaps and bounds beyond Intervideo/Nero's attempts.
I thought i read somewhere that LG are bringing out a drive that does both HD-DVD and Blue-ray via the same unit. Has anybody else heard or read about this ??

I am looking into getting this drive for my HTPC which I am waiting for a CPU to finish. My current set up is:
ABit iL-90MV
Intel T7200 2 Ghz Core 2 Duo
2 x 512 Matched Corsair DDR2 Twin 2X
Vista MCE (hopefully will have no issues)
Haupauage WinTV Nova T-500
Samsung 32R74BDX LCD
Will Innitially use the HDMI till I get my Surround Sound setup.
My question is will this Drive work with this setup and play back HD-DVD material smoothly?
Batty, any reports yet?
I can say the drive works perfectly, excellent playback.
I assume the good results are due more to PowerDVD ultra than the drive itself!
I am very happy with it, quieter than using the xbox add-on.
Good find by Azzin!
