Basically I want to use my Mac formatted Ipod to transfer files from a Mac machine to a Windows one. When I load the ipod onto the Windows machine it says it needs to be formatted. What I want to know is;

1) If I reformatted it will it still work on my Apple's Itunes?

2) Will I be able to transfer files between a Mac and PC?

Thanks.

You can use a Windows formatted iPod on a Mac, but not a Mac formatted one on Windows, because Windows doesn't recognise anything other than NTFS and FAT without extreme persuasion. (No. 142 on my list of why Windows sucks)

There may be some 3rd party drivers out there for HFS+ on Windows, but is it worth it?

If you reformatted your iPod to Windows then yes, you could transfer files with it and it would still work normally when plugged into your Mac.

Remember that you would have to use Windows to update the firmware on the iPod from then on.

Wayne.

Thanks Wayne for your clear response. Just to clarify can I still use my ipod on itunes on my mac or would I have to use it only on windows? Also would I update the firmware for the Ipod through itunes on windows.

You can use it on iTunes on Mac and iTunes on Windows, I used to do the same :)

Correct, again I used to do the same :)
