View Full Version : Norbit
Although I haven't seen it (nor do I ever intend to) I heard 2 radio reviews today and checked it out on rottentomatoes:

It got 9/100 !!
Its rather sad that Eddie Murphy now thinks that putting on a fat suit is funny. I remember when he actually was funny, although to be fair it was a long time ago.
Time to retire?

Well, that's not very good. I think Eddie needs to give up these films where he plays all the characters. It was good in The Nutty Professor but has gotten a bit old.
I think we have seen enough male American actors dressing up as fat women.

his voice for Donkey in Shrek is a masterpiece!
Rumour has it that the apparent racist undertones in Norbit lost Eddie Murphy an Oscar in Dreamgirls.
I agree about Shrek, one of his better 'roles'

Hi,
It's a definite shame when an actor like Murphy, who can do really good material (Beverly Hills Cop, 48 Hours, The Nutty Professor, voice in Shrek), can make so many other derivative, distasteful, and generally p*ss-poor comedies like "Norbit"! :(
I get the impression, he's only doing these films, purely for the money, and not even bothering to attempt to inject the film with anything even remotely related to a "decent acting experience".
Maybe Murphy should stick to doing voice-over's in animations, and/or stand-up comedy?
