I've got a 'core duo' mac mini featuring a 'superdrive' according to the mate I purchased it off. It was one of the first mac-mini's featuring an Intel chip as I understand it. I've yet to plug it in, but I'm assured it works :)

I am planning on connecting it to my Toshiba 37WLT68 and probably using it as a media server. I've purchased a dvi to hdmi cable for this purpose. However, I'm unsure how to get the sound through the speakers of the tv? I've already got a PC connected to it using the dvi connection and a cable running to the speaker input.

Has anyone any ideas on how to output the mini's sound out of it into the tv?

Also, I would like to change the mini from its native White\Silver to black. I've googled for 'mac skins' and found some, but I would ideally like something to put over the mini without blocking the dvd drive access but changes the macs colour that wasn't a sticker.

Has anyone any sugestions?

Thank you.

will a headphone to phono lead not do the trick? i guess that would work fine, but you'll have to send the video in via the vga rather than the hdmi, thats how i connect my powerbook to my wlt68

im not too clued up on the do's and don't of connecting to mac's to the wlt68, but a few guys over in the wlt68 thread advised it was better to do it via dvi to the vga on the tosh

The headphone socket on this model should also be an optical out so a toslink cable might be the answer, provided you have a separate sound system with an optical in socket. That's how my sound is conveyed. How could you even think of desecrating the nice shiny brushed aluminium look of the casing?:lease:
