Can anyone recomend a good backup solution ?
My requirements are to schedule a back up, that will be performed automatically. Data will be backed up to an external usb hard drive.
Thanks.

I use Personal Back up - http://www.intego.com/personalbackup/
You can easily set up scripts to back up single folders through to entire drives and schedule them to happen exactly when you want them to. It also creates logs that'll show if any problems have occurred and there's a useful widget that tells you the last/next back up. You can also tell it not to overwrite deleted item - useful if you delete something you shouldn't have and don't realise until several back ups later

There's a free backup with a .mac account.
Remember that Leopard (the next release of OS X, due in the next couple of months)includes Time Machine (http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/timemachine.html), reputedly the easiest backup ever.
If you can get over the geekware shock, RsyncX is free, easy and good.

Backup, Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper - the latter is my fave :)
