I'm thinking of getting this, but with there being a version where its on 2 disks, is this version of the film on both disks or just on 1 (if anyone has this version)?

Yes, the film is spread over 2 discs and the picture quality is vastly improved over the original version,mainly for this reason.
I watched this new version a few weeks ago and was surprised how much better the video quality has improved (sound is great also).
Fully recommended!
