in a pug 307

Whats the deal, after reading various websites and forums can i easily swop my oem head unit for a new aftermarket one, or does the multiplex wiring stop me from doing this? do all 307's have this type of wiring? Very confused!! i have a 2001 307 hdi d turbo 110. i have taken oem stereo out and it has 3 connector blocks on the back. one for the speakers ( this has eight connections), one for the auto changer and one that must power it, and connect it to the steering wheel stalk control and dash mounted display (this has seven connections)

thanks in advance

Re: in a pug 307

Your year of 307 will have the multiplex wiring. If you simply plug in a new stereo to the 8 pin plugs (ISO) it will cause problems. You have two options;

1) Use an interface for the steering wheel controls, depending on what head unit you are fitting. This will sort out the multiplex problem and create an ignition supply for you, as well as obviously making the steering wheel controls work. Plug and play installation. Any of the parts ending ...006 in this link will work;

Then go to the homepage to find where to buy.

2) Rewire the power ISO. Removing the multiplex wiring and connecting an ignition switched supply from elsewhere.
