If anyone is interested, United Cutlery, who make the official LOTR replicas, have gone bankrupt so if anyone here wants to buy a UC LOTR piece, then now is the time to buy one as they are gonna get rare and expensive really quickly!

quite like the look of gimli's helmet, but need to buy other things for now, that will have to be a later inclusion for me.

also with gears of war being popular, thought they may have brought out replica models or weapons of them.
would love the chainsaw gun.

If you want Gimli's Helmet I know somewhere you can get it for £125.00. I wouldn't hang around if you want a UC LOTR item as they are disappearing fast. They are no longer being made anymore. I have 5 pieces already and have just ordered Gimli's Battle Axe. I may also order 1 more piece before they disappear for good or become way too expensive. Don't hang around mate if you want one! Seriously.

I quite fancy the helmet of Sauron. Looks a fantastic piece.

Is there anywhere anyone would particularly advise getting their products from that are good value?

OMG I didn't know UC had gone bump.

That's fantastic news for me, I have a limited edition Anduril and Shards of Narsil along with around 10 other none limited UC LOTR swords.

Really nice bits of memorabilia they are, especially the LE Anduril.

I only have 6 pieces, but it's nice to know their value will be going up.
I only wish I'd managed to get one of those High Elven Warrior's Swords when they first came out. They weren't acually a limited edition, however, they stopped making them when they went bust so they are now worth a pretty penny. My Strider's Ranger Sword and Narsil sword, whilst not limited editions, also stopped being made a while ago so are going up in value quickly.
Nice to hear from someone else who has some pieces

It certainly is, I wanted to get the lot and the elven warrior sword was high up on the list but after buying every single one of the initial releases I just couldn't afford any more. (Not to mention my wife would have chopped me up with them).

I'm so chuffed I managed to get the LE Anduril. It sold out on preorders and luckily I got in there early enough.

Glamdring's value is shooting up as it has become very hard to find. Gandalf's the Grey's (not the White's) staff is also worth a lot apparently. Did you manage to get this staff?
I wish I could have afforded more too, but, as you say, my Mrs was staring to give me dirty looks.:nono:

Sadly no, no staffs at all. Off the top of my head (they're all up the loft so can't check).

Narsil,
Shards of Narsil (LE),
Anduril (LE),
Glamdring,
Sting,
Sting scabbard,
Strider's Ranger Sword,
Uruk Hai Scimitar,
Hadafang,
Witchking's sword,
Ringwraith's sword,
Fighting knives of legolas
and finally 5 miniatures.

I think that's the lot.

Also have the bookends that came with the first EE DVD. They are worth a few quid too.

Edit, love that axe BTW.

I have a few other LOTR pieces as well.
The 3 Weta sculptures that came with the EE DVD's (Argonath, Smeagol & Minas Tirith), Cave Troll Hammer (Limited to 2000 I think), Elendil Bust (limited to 3000), High Elven Infantryman Bust, Moria Orc Swordsman Bust & two miniature orc helmets.
My nicest piece is a autographed script cover from the Fellowship of the Ring. I also have a Gandalf signed picture and a Aragorn & Arwen signed picture.
NERD Alert :rotfl:

Wow, some really cool stuff there. I'm rather jealous of that signed script cover. :)

The weta busts and statue's are really nice. I remember when the LE Balrog statue came out and was going for over a grand on fleabay.

Nice to know I'm not the only LOTR nerd out there.

So the question is, which of your collection do you most covet?

R1PLEY
15-05-2007, 4:26 PM
The signed cript cover I would say will be the most valuable in years to come, however, the first piece I ever bought, which was Narsil, is the one I like the most for some reason. I seem to prefer the items that were actually clearly mentioned in the books like Narsil, Sting or Glamdring rather than the ones that were especially created/highlighted for the film like Gimli's Axe (apparently Balin's old axe taken from his tomb in Moria), Strider's Ranger Sword or Legolas's White Knives. I would still have loved to have had them all though

You don't fancy selling any of yours then? ;)

Dave W
15-05-2007, 4:34 PM
I agree that the items that played a part in the films/books are just that little bit more "special".

Which is why my most coveted piece is Anduril because it plays such an integral part in the whole trilogy.

If you haven't seen it then this book (http://www.countrybookshop.co.uk/books/index.phtml?whatfor=000717201X) is well worth getting but seeing your collection I'd be frankly amazed if you didn't already have it.

Dave W

:rotfl:

Not a chance.

If I was ever really strapped for cash then obviously they'd have to all go, but looking at the current value of original Star Wars memorabilia and the current production of the Hobbit (Where Glamdring and Sting first appear) I'd be insane to sell them now.

Not to mention the fact I like em too much anyway. (Geek alert).

I have that book yes. It's an interesting read. That's where I first read that Gimli's Axe (according to Peter Jackson, not JRR Tolkien) is supposed to be Balin's Axe recovered from Balin's broken tomb by Gimli. PJ also decided that Idril's sword (Hadhafang) was passed down to Earendil, who passed it to Elrond who passed it down to Arwen. A lot of artistic licence on PJ's part (including the sword's name) but some interesting ideas though.

I'm getting all nerdy again here....

It's life size (same size as in the film). Sauron is bigger than a normal man as well so it will be quite large I think. £300 at the moment @ blades-uk.com.

The second product in the Dark Lord Sauron collection, the ultimate in The Lord of the Rings collectibles, is this authentically detailed gauntlet, a reproduction of the gauntlet prominently featured in The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring, presented by New Line Cinema. United Cutlery Brands, industry leader in fine movie reproductions, has meticulously recreated the actual prop, making close attention to detail a priority in every piece. This actor’s scale gauntlet is wearable and is crafted with antiqued iron parts featuring an intaglio surfacing and a genuine leather-lined interior that precisely matches the original movie prop, which has more than 30 moving pieces. The index finger bears the familiar “One Ring” that features a 24-K gold plated finish and engraved inscription. Each gauntlet is presented with a glass dome and wood display stand also adorned with “The One Ring” inscription and a brass medallion. This adult collectible is strictly limited to 3000 pieces worldwide and is individually serialized on a solid brass plate mounted on the inside of the gauntlet to ensure authenticity. This 1 to 1 scale Limited Edition replica is finely detailed for authenticity.
