Stand mount speakers - Isolation or Coupling?

What’s the general view for mounting (small) speakers on stands?

Should they be fix to the stands (bolted, blue tacked) or de-coupled with something like Sorbothane ?

Fixed with blu-tac would be my vote - from a security perspective - they are less likely to get knocked off. I'm sure someone with bat-like hearing will say that isolation gives 0.00001% better sound and therefore the improvement is "night-and-day"

Re: Stand mount speakers - Isolation or Coupling?

It depends on what the stand is standing on. If it's spiked onto a concrete floor, then blu-tak. If it's standing on a lively wood laminate or suspended floor, then Sorbothane.
