Which email applet
I have got so used to my pc and using office that when i moves over to mac I found myself a bit lost when it comes to email because I have to keep going to btinternet to retrieve them.
What applet would you suggest for desktop access to email.
Cheers Darko

Re: Which email applet
i use apples own mail program, simple and easy to use, with a good 'smart mail box' feature to filter the spam. multiple accounts and set up is a doddle too
if your use to outlook you should get on fine with it, although microsoft's Entourage is a fav for a few of my recent pc to mac coverted friends, although i've never tried it myself

Re: Which email applet
mail is included with 10.3, and will run fine... check you app's folder it should be in there, if not it will be on the original install disc's.

IIRC it's one of the default apps in the Dock (the row of icons at the bottom of the screen). The Mail icon is a US stamp (it has a picture of a Bald Eagle).
A tip for getting to your Applications quickly: drag the Applications folder to the right of the Dock (right of the vertical divider). You can then right-click or ctrl-click it in the Dock and it will open as a menu.

Re: Which email applet
Cool thread. I was going to ask about email before i get my new mac.
As i have Total BT Broadband with the Home Hub, i simple follow the steps in this link provided by tomson
http://products.secureserver.net/ema..._applemail.htm
I just write the same details on my outlook into the apple mail settings and it will work staright away?
Also while we are on the subject, when i connect by Home Hub to the Mac will i need to install everything on the Mac using the CD or will it work straight away if if i unpluged it from my PC and plugged it back in? Sorry if i have phrased it wrong

Setting up Mail with your email accounts is as easy as it could be. Just start it up and it will take you through the setup.
Mac networking is super easy. Just connect and you'll be "on". If not, it means that someone has altered the settings. Just go to System Preferences > Network > Ethernet > TCP/IP and ensure Using DHCP is selected.
Even if BT include a Mac setup app on the CD, don't bother with it. Doing it in OS X manually is so easy (if you need to do anything at all).

Re: Which email applet
It maybe that you've set your outgoing mail server to authenticate - meaning you have ot enter a username/password. A lot of ISP mail servers don't need this so you can uncheck it.
I seem to find Thunderbird on the Mac set that by default.

Re: Which email applet
In Thunderbird the settings are in
1. Go to Tools Menu --> Account Settings
2. Highlight the Outgoing Server option in the left hand pane.
3. In the right hand pane, Highlight your default server and click the Edit Button
4. Under Security and Authentication, Uncheck 'use name and password'
5. Click Ok
Not sure where the setting are for mail but they will be similar no doubt
