Extended 5 Year Warranty/Service ???

HI All,

Last year I bought an AV9/P7 combo from a local dealer towards the end of August. On receiving the kit which, by the the way, I am very happy with, I dutifully registered my purchases with Arcam via their web site. Their on-line registration form allows you to registered more than one product so I registered both the AV9 and the P7 in order to take advantage of their extended 5 year warranty.

About two weeks later I received an extended warranty certificate for the AV9 but nothing for the P7. I then followed this up with three letters, none of which apparently deserved a reply...None were rude or abusive, merely inquisitive.

In December last year I bought a DV139. Rather than register this on-line, I completed the enclosed registration document and sent this back to Arcam in the pre-printed envelope enclosing a letter about my concerns that so far I hadn't received anything back at all for the P7. Guess what, diddly squat. No reply, no extended warranty certificate, nothing...

In the meantime, my AV9, which went belly up before Christmas, was sent back to Arcam for "repair". I got it back mid January this year, brought it back here, plugged it in only to to find that nothing had changed, i.e., it did not work, it did not pass go, it did not collect £200 etc etc etc. Back to the dealer. I now have a brand new replacement unit, with a different serial number naturally. I then registered the new unit along with yet another letter pointing out that I have nothing in respect of the P7 or the DV139 and could some attention be paid to the matter etc, etc etc.

Guess what ? Still nothing. So after nearly eight grand of expenditure since August last year I have some great kit but no acknowledgement of the extended warranty in respect of any of it now. The only certificate I ever received was in respect of the AV9 which has been replaced.

What gives ? This company makes great products but why can't it address something as simple as this ?

Ian...

Re: Extended 5 Year Warranty/Service ???

This has been discussed before. The consensus is that if you register your FMJ product on line and printout the acknowledgement, Arcam will honour the 5 year warranty.

Re: Extended 5 Year Warranty/Service ???

For those Arcam products that I have I've made a point of registering on-line AND sending back the registration cards!

I went through a similar problem with my AV9 registration (and my DV29 registration, come to think of it) - no acknowledgement, no response to polite emails chasing the situation, nada. In the end I got my dealer involved - registration details miraculously appeared shortly thereafter!
