Thought I'd try out the updated 3170 version of parallels as I still have some windows programs I would like access to in the short term.

I'm trying to install the software but when I get to the screnn that asks me to select a destination I get the message "some volumes are unavailable until the installer has finished processing"

Its been on this screen for 20 minutes now.

I would go to the parallels support page but the parallels website will not display correctly in safari and when I click on support in the site, nothing happens.

I seem to be having a bit of a nightmare so far with my mac so if anyone can provide some calm words of wisdom to point me in the right direction it will be much appreciated - surely things aren't this difficult all the time ?

Sorry cant help you with the parallels but you can get firefox for the mac and i would suggest that you get that to try and access the site.

thanks, I'll install firefox eventually.

I'm now trying to install boot camp, and I get the same issue. I get to the select a destination drive, this time I can select the drive I select continue and then nothing.

The will to live is slowly being drained out of me.......

I rebooted and got past the install section of boot camp, but then nothing. I get a boot camp icon on the desktop but clicking this justs prompts me to install the bootcamp assistant again.

I give in.......

After reading here (http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-65810.html) I think you are going to have to do a reinstall of the OS

The bootcamp icon on your desktop is more than likely the dmg file (the install image), not the bootcamp assistant application. You'll find that under Applications -> Utilities.

Once you run the assistant (and accept the bum covering terms and conditions), you will need a blank CD-R, an XP with SP2 install disc and a USB keyboard and mouse. Don't bother going any further if you haven't got these to hand.
