Cool Screensaver

Here's a cool screensaver for your Mac. It responds to the sounds picked up from your built in microphone, and displays them in a cool visualisation.

The advert that pops up every 5 minutes can be disabled in the settings, and many things can be changed, like mic sensitivity, speed etc. Basically just have a play about!

If you have an interest in developing screensavers they can be built very easily using Quartz Composer, which is free with the Developer Kit. Having sound or an isight interact with the screensaver are possibilities.

here's a AV Forums ScreenSaver, that displays the latest stories from the main forum.

very quick example

to install unzip the file and place the AVForums.qtz file here: ~/Library/Screen Savers or /System/Library/Screen Savers

It is easy to add click on current story to exit the screen saver and go to the webpage.
