Arcam DV79 DVD problem HDMI to Pioneer Plasma

Had a DV79 for a while now . Outputs via HDMI to Pioneer 505 XDE. since purchase keeps blacking out. usually recovers after a few seconds but some time cant and need to reboot DVD player and restart discs to recover. no consistent spot on any particular disc. appears to happen randomly and not a layer change. Supplier apparently contacted Arcam and no known issues though I saw similar in another thread regarding a firmware issue. can anyone clarify/ confirm. weirdly got better for a bit but recently has deteriorated again and happed x 3 watching alien vs predator last night! I know its embarrassing but it was a fiver in WH Smiths!
i quite enjoyed it but for the crashes!

It might be a sw glitch, I know there are nearly 1million lines of code within a dv139 so a 79 must also have a fair few. I would suggest contacting your local dealer and they can send you the latest sw disc, if you have no luck let me know and ill sort it out for you

Check your S/W version. If your DV79 has version 5.26 have your dealer install 5.25 (on rev back) and that should cure the problem. There's an uncorrected issue in 5.26 with regard to HDCP. Arcam is aware of the problem but I don't think it's going to get fixed.

how do I find out which version I have please. excuse ignorance I'm sure its dead easy!

Is the software update pretty straight forward . Im computer savvy.
