Have a look at www.yournav.com

I can recommend the TomTom Go 510, got 2 work colleagues who've both recently purchased one to replace Navman & Garmin units.
I've got the older TTG 500 which has only let me down about once in 2 years, it seamlessly navigated me around 1000 miles of nevada, arizona & california last year

Re: which sat nav to get?

Basically they're all much of a muchness and there's no best manufacturer or unit for everyone and especially with the big 2, Tomtom and Garmin, which one you get will be down to your specific needs and how they're met. The non obvious things which don't seem a big deal when you're handing over your cash are customer service and how comprehensive the mapping is, but have a read of a few satnav forums and you'll see how important these are. Many have gone from Tomtom to Garmins and are happy campers but conversely, many have moved from Garmin to TT. Your satisfaction will depend on your expectations, whether you get buggy equipment and whether it gets sorted to your satisfaction. Make a list of what you want, like Bluetooth Phone, Text To Speech, Traffic (FM or GPRS), waypoints, form factor etc. and start from there to narrow the field.

There are gazillions of thread debating just this question like this What Sat Nav is best?. If you do a search you'll find a lot. If you look at the forums and reviews at www.pocketgps.com and reviews in online mags like http://www.gpsmagazine.com/ you'll also get some pointers.

Wow! From knowing nothing to decision in 3 hours, I'm guessing that you weren't genuinely asking for advice and had made up your mind. You've clearly given it a lot of thought and done the research so it's the right choice for you,

Got to agree with this post I did buy a mio but sent it back as bluetooth kept switching off and the mapping was naf ( route 66 ).
Like with any new "toy" I have visited my friends all over the country and as yet it has not missed a camrea and the bluetooth is excellent even copied the address book off my mobile phone, latest updates on tom tom software and safety cameras is easy with the tom tom home docking station via my PC well pleased.

Got to agree with this post. I'd imaging it must be frustrating to give advice when it appears that the OP wasn't seriously asking for advice. It's not as if the 510 or indeed any of these satnavs is a no brainer and so obviously better or worse than their competitors that you can decide in a few hours without seeing them.

Re: which sat nav to get?

The way I read it, you'd already made up your mind and were a timewaster. I can see why someone who spend time giving you advice would be frustrated.

Hardly surprising seeing as you and Sinclair are both the same person

Heh. Just heh. Good work moderator fella.

Would have been funnier if he'd disputed the post though. A dual-personality internet argument. Not enough of that on here imho
