Sony DVP NS76H - region hack
I have searched high and low on the net - I keep being brought to various flavours of a hack - none of which seem to work - If I have missed the nivarna of hacks on this forum then may apologies.....
- I have a Philips Pronto and have added 3 different cff files - none work
- Did it with the DVD player in standby (off) and also on position - no luck
- I don't have an ir port on my computer, so I can't do that one.....
- And I don't have an all-in-1 remote (My pronto should be good enough)
Could someone kindly let me know if they have managed to free their Sony NS76H (and not a variant) - and make it region free, and if they have, how do I go about it.
Many thanks,

Mohh,
thanks for that - I already tried it and sadly it has no effect. Any other suggestions?

richardS.
I work above it as soon as that that will appear new I shall necessarily inform.
If there is an information rather DVD Sony I would be glad to it to take advantage!
Today I shall try on models NS36 and NS56. On results I shall inform later...
And here still that, you followed the instruction which is written on this site http://www.selen.org/sonydvd.html ? Item 6, 7, 8, 9?

Mohh,
I have followed the instructions as per your link; basically I press numbers 1,2,3,4,5 and 11,22,33,44,55 to see what will happen - I have tried three different ccf files with my pronto.
One has no effect at all - I think this is your one...
Another CCF off this forum ( pronto ccf DVD hack ) seems to switch the player on - I get a "Welcome" scrolling across the display, which eventually turns to "No Disc", but switching the player into standby mode then back on again & and then inserting a region 1 disc (I am in region 2) producers a "not allowed to play in your region"....or words to that effect.
Not sure how I would find out the IR codes for this particular Sony, but there must be a way - if the player accepts IR codes and its region coding can be changed this way - to do it.....

Firstly, you have to unplug the unit from the mains for the region change to take effect! Simply putting a unit into standby will NOT make any change! This applies to any modification.
Secondly, the 76 is the same set of IR codes as the 30, 36, 56, etc, and the above ccf file works fine on these models, but only if you do it right and unplug it from the mains!
Finally, I don`t know why people continue to post on these Sony threads with other hacks to press 12345 then 12345, this is not true, the unit only accept the commands once, repeating the commands again and again makes no difference, nothing will change till you cold start the machine!

Please take the time to read the thread fully - this thread does not refer to the units own remote. There is no magic button on the sony remote. You cannot mod the player with its own remote, this thread has already covered how to do it!

Re: Sony DVP NS76H - region hack
This works on Both a Sony DVP-NS708H and the Sony DVP-NS78H
( pronto ccf DVD hack
I loaded the CCF into my Marantz RC9200.
You Click the brand menu on the top right corner then select Sony Hacks and press the buttons in sequence with the Dvd player in Standby mode.
Both the DVP-NS708H and DVP-NS78H displays show Succeed after it's done.
Unplug the mains power from the unit and bingo you are region free.
This only works on European models though as far as I know, mine was Region2
