Does the nvidia h264 hardware decoding work with dvb-s2?

I tried it bbc hd with a skystar2 and an 6600gt and the purevideo drivers a few months ago and had the hardware decoding option enabled in the cyberlink h264 codec. But it made no difference at all compared to not having hardware decoding enabled. I've taken out the 6600gt since that as it was too noisy. I plan to get a 7600gt passive soon enough but theres no point if its not going to help with the h264 decoding. So can anyone tell me if it actually works as i read on another forum today, someone saying the exact same as me. I have an e6300 core2duo ( dell so no overclocking) so it needs some help from a graphics card for dvb-s2.

There is little or no hardware assistance for H.264 decoding with older & cheaper Nvidia chipsets. However the assistance that you get is not enormous even with a 7600GT. The alternative CODEC CoreAVC is much more efficient than Power DVD7 but uses no graphics hardware help so winds up with about the same CPU utilisation. What version of Power DVD7 do you have? Earlier versions had no hardware help but in any case the Core 2 Duo E6300 should be well capable of decoding H.264 even without help from the graphics card

I have a 7600GT and a E6400. With PowerDVD 7 and hardware acceleration on, CPU usage is around 40% to 50%. With it turned off it goes up to around 70% so there's something to be gained from using it.

Re: Does the nvidia h264 hardware decoding work with dvb-s2?

Coreavc crops the picture an awful lot with dvb-s2 channels, well with alt-dvb anyways. Im sure i had the same problem with dvbviewer and have read of others with the same problem and cant find a solution (coreavc devs have being informed of this according to a sat forum i use and have acknowledged that their is a problem). The picture that it does show looks fine. BBC hd with the cyberlink codec and dvbviewer just doesnt look right on my pc, framerate doesnt looking right ( cpu is about 70-80%). Save me wasting money anyways. Thanks for the replies.
