Hi guys

I noticed this calibration DVD on Monsters US website and was wondering if anyone had used it? Will it work on a Pal system? Is it any good? Any thoughts or comments on this DVD would be appreciated.

Never used a calibration disc, although have used the THX optimode on some DVDs and found this quite useful. Its surprising how far out some of my settings were after using the THX optimode.

The DVD works quite well for the novice to get decent settings.

The DVD can be had in PAL and NTSC varieties and there are currently only a couple of UK retailers with availability of the PAL version.

Anybody know how this monster hdtv calibration disc compares to the dve disc?Any advantages over the dve disc as I have an hdtv or would I need an hd player aswell to see the benefits if any?

Thanks Martin

The advantage of the Monster disc is that it is very, very easy to use to set contrast, brightness, sharpness and colour saturation. That is all that it does. DVE offers much more but many have complained how difficult it is to use. Forget the HDTV in the title - it is a standard def disc.

Forget the HDTV in the title - it is a standard def disc.

The DVD contains a WMV file at 720P that can be used to calibrate an HTPC if you have one.

The title is a little misleading I guess but there are SD and "HD" options on the DVD.
