Hard Disk MP3 Player for Technics System

Now that Ive got all my music stored digitally I would like to get a hard disk that sits on top of my Technics music system. I already have it stored on my Sony NWHD5 portable mp3 player and quite often plug this in to my hifi, but I would like something that’s plugged in permanently, in brushed aluminium with a nice display showing track name, artist etc with about 80Gb of storage. I don’t want wireless, or anything with a built in Radio or anything with an Ethernet connection, just a simple hard disk with a nice shiny exterior that can play MP3’s.
I have no idea where to start with this, so any suggestions would be welcome.

Sorry, mate - not sure if there's anything like that around.

You're basically talking about and iPod.

Most of the HDD based ones use a TV for display. The streaming ones are the ones that tend to have screens.

You could always get something like the CA or Hifidelio with built in CD players and HDD's, but they're pretty expensive.

Re: Hard Disk MP3 Player for Technics System

May have found something that will do the job. The screen looks rudimenatary but will be OK. Cannot display artwork etc, but thats fine, want to listen to it, not watch it.

Anyone have any experience with these ??

Re: Hard Disk MP3 Player for Technics System

They look interesting.

No FLAC support though

Sounds like that's not important to you, however.

What'll make or break something like that it the user interface.

If I knew what FLAC support was I might want it !!
No its not important. I have a fairly rudimentary setup on the hifi front, ie, Technics Mini Stack system. For the price I might just buy one and see what they're like.

Re: Hard Disk MP3 Player for Technics System

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it. It seems like a failry unique solution. I think there's a few more in the pipelines, but they're US only at the moment.

Good luck
