Vista Media Center will only pick up some channels

Hello there.

Firstly my apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere, I had a quick look and couldn't find a similar post.

I have successfully installed vista ultimate and got media center working ok, that is until I start to scan for channels. Media center will only pick up 12 of the possible 30 odd channels available which is infuriating. Now for some reason when I performed a scan and it managed to pick up nearly all the channels, but a subsequent scan straight after resulted in the 12 channels I had previously and I can't for the life of me replicate what I had done in order to give me more channels. Now I'm a very tech savvy guy but this has got me beat.

I'm using a fusion hdtv dual DVB-T digital tuner and I live in the UK. It has to be noted that I was able to receive all the channels when using Media Center 2005 so I know it's capable of it.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Re: Vista Media Center will only pick up some channels

Most likely cause will be the tv tuner drivers, they could be more sensitive to weak signals hence the problem with scanning.

Using freeview from Crystal Palace my channel scan picks up 71 channels.

Re: Vista Media Center will only pick up some channels

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Took your advice and downloaded all versions of the drivers for the fusion card and installed them and tested them in sequence starting with the most recent first. I got mixed results.

Version 3.3 of the fusion drivers yielded to most channels from a scan at 44 channels 17 of which were radio channels. For some reason a few of the channels that were able to be picked up with MCE2005 were still not present.
Great I thought but when it came to watching one channel while recording another I got the blue screen of death and rebooted.

All other versions (apart from the specific vista drivers) gave less channels per scan and all crashed with the blue screen of death.

Looks like if I want to use Vista Media Center then I have to put up with only 15 channels and 2 radio channels, unless anyone can think of anything else that might help.....

Could there be a way to effectively turn down the sensitivity of the vista drivers for the Fusion card to see if that'll do the trick?

Thanks once again for the reply
