No, there is no DD available on the Sky Movie channels on Virgin. Not yet, anyway.

DD is available on the HD VoD movies though.

Dumb question...

I dont have an HD TV and am considering moving from Sky to V+. My tosh TV supports SCART, Component and S-video inputs. Can I still view HD movies on my TV but divert the DD 5.1 through digital output to my AV receiver?

Does HD cost more than non-HD VOD movies?

(A call to VM customer support was very inconclusive regarding DD 5.1!!)

i remembered seeing this on a Virgin FAQ as i looking for someone to rant at about losing Sky.

What are the sound options on the set top box?
All set top boxes output a standard stereo 2–channel audio that is Dolby pro logic compatible. Dolby 5.1 is not available as unfortunately, we are technically unable to support it on our STBs

the url is

hope this helps

if u watch any of the HDprogs on a v+ box and u have it set right then it comes through dd. 5.1, ive watched a few of the music concerts from london and they looked and sounded great, just a pity there isnt more HD conent on v+.

DD 5.1 has been spotted recently on some of the Sky movie channels. It's not normally part of the Virgin feed but it happened once before during the Sky basics debacle. It might disappear without a warning.

Indeed. 5.1 has appeared in some movies on Sky Premier, Sky Premier+1 and Sky Modern. It may just be available in ex-TW areas though. There's a good thread on it here (http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=536472) :)
