Severe problems with 'My music'

Hi there, I am running MCE 2005 and a few strange occurances have started to happen with my music they are:

1. I have 60Gb of music all in the following folder tree:

My Music - A,B,C,D etc - Artist - Album

Previously I have searched for the music by directing the search to the 'my music' folder and it has found all the music no problems, however since December It will only find around 1000 out of around 17000 tracks! I have copied and archived the WMDB database and tried again from scratch but the same happens. The only way I can add music is via the add folder option in the Library in WMP, this is horrendous and would not recommend this to any one!

Note: All the music is either WMA or MP3 and sometimes the album art appears yet when the MCE My Music is a 'view queue' the black square appears!

2. Often the Album artist randomly changes to unknown artist (I have the manual update selected in settings and am currently not connected to the t'internet) which I have to amend manually (the track artist stays correct though).

3. The album art problem I have is: In WMP 10 it is there when played yet in MCE I get either a black square or blue square (not the headphones icon). if I update this via Album art fixer it skips over the black squares or If I manually update it, it does not change. I have replaced the folder.jpg with another picture yet the black square remains!

Re: Severe problems with 'My music'

I know this isn't much help but I have similar problems - blank spaces where album art should be, none of the music with artists beginning with "A" show up, artist info randomly disappears...again, Album Art Fixer seems to help a little bit but not much...

I'm sure there's a perfectly simple MS-style explanation along the lines of the registry edits you have to research and apply to stop MCE forcing 60Hz refresh rate, or for S3 to work, or for My DVDs to be enabled, or the "missing" encoders you have to find and install to burn video DVDs and then more reg edits to point the encoder at a temp file somewhere apart from the partition the OS is on...

Re: Severe problems with 'My music'

You've got me worried now, I also have over 17,500 tracks and it took ages to sync them up with media center (which is odd, because its quick on WMP).

Not sure what it could be but if you work it out please post a answer up here, just in case it happens in the future

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, if I can think of anything I'll let you know.

Cheers

Rick

Re: Severe problems with 'My music'

Apparently the Black album art is a recognised bug if you have IE7 installed. Rollback to IE 6 and the art appears like magic (apparently!)

Re: Severe problems with 'My music'

I thought I had seriously screwed up my 600 albums and art work. I uninstalled ie7 and low and behold everything magically fixed itself. Re-installed ie7 to double check and the problem was back. Now back to ie6.
