1:1 through Lumagen HDP DVI to 1:1 PF9?

New 65" PF9 delivered 6 days ago and looking BRILLIANT!

I'm a complete newbie to scalers, but have got the panel running at 1:1 mapping on the output of the Lumagen, with an Octava switch switching HDMI sources (SkyHD, Denon DVD and XBox360) to the Input1 DVI input on the Lumagen. Lumagen test patterns display perfectly.

I've now connected a Dell 9300 notebook via DVI to Input2 of the Lumagen with a view to getting 1:1 mapping i.e 1920x1080 pixels. The Dell native resolution is 1920x1200, so should have no problems outputting 1920x1080 to achieve the 1:1 match as long as the Lumagen returns the appropriate EDID? info.

Having tried this, I'm getting a very strange display on the panel with missing and/or duplicated horizontal lines and very poor overall quality. I've tried via the PC input on the panel but that doesn't support full 1920x1020 anyway.

Can anyone tell me a simple, step by step setup procedure to achieve this 1:1 mapping all the way from the PC to the Panel? I'm used to reading computer software manuals, but the Lumagen one might as well be written in Martian

Lumagen scalers do not support 1080p input. They do support 1080i though. So if you want that then set the pc to output 1080i and navigate to
MENU>IN>CONFIG>ADJ>SIZE>and set SCALE to PASS mode.

Production Release 122206- Adds support for 1080-24p, 1080-25p and 1080-30p as input sources on all the current units. Works great with Sony BDP-S1 Blu-ray player.

They don't support 1080p50 or 1080p60, but they do support 1080p24\25\30

Re: 1:1 through Lumagen HDP DVI to 1:1 PF9?

Thanks for that Gordon. At least I won't waste hours trying to do something impossible. Is it a limitation on the input processor speed, because I would have thought that a 1:1 pass-through would need negligible processing power?

Looks as if I need a DVI switcher between the Lumagen and the PF9's DVI-D input, and use a spare channel on that to take the PC's DVI output That way I can feed the panel a direct 1920x1080 50/60Hz signal and get optimum quality.

StooMonster:

Just seen your reply as I was typing my reply to Gordon.

I want to get a high frame rate for flight-sim usage, so 30fps isn't really enough.

Re: 1:1 through Lumagen HDP DVI to 1:1 PF9?

There is no pass thru on the current Lumagen range. The 1080p above 30fps is beyond the hardware in the product. Radiance range should be capable of what you want.....a switch like an octava/gefen should do what you want in meantime.
