Now got budget -how to spend it??!!

I have been going around the houses about speakers etc but now have my final budget and would appreciate advice on how to split it.

I have £1700 to spend.
I have an Arcam CD player which I will keep.
I also have MJ Acoustics Pro 50 which was thinking of keeping unless I go for sub/sat and another is better deal/option.
I do have ALR Jordan Entry S bookshelf speakers as possibles for rears.

Was thinking of speakers (sub/sat package or front/centre) £1000
DVD £300
Amp/receiver £400

Is this the right sort of split?
If so where do I start on speakers for that money?
room is 20 ft x 12 ft but TV end is down one end.
Use is 80% tv/dvd

Thanks
Gareth

I'd be tempted to spend less on the DVD (the Denon 1930 is available for under £200) and put the extra to the amp.

Must admit the £400 for amp was based on the Sony but am happy to play around with these figures.
Any thoughts on speakers? Really don't know whether to keep the Pro50 sub and get some bookshelf or floorstanders (MA silver?) or go for a sub/sat such as B&W, Kef or M&K?

If it was my money it would be split £900 speakers (Kef 3005), £600 amp (CA 640R), £200 DVD (CA DVD89 or Denon1930).

Can you get the Kef without the sub? Do you think this compares well, as I am not too worries about whether they are 'style' speakers with more traditional speakers?

Buy my Dynaudio Audience 40's as fronts and then add the matching centre

I'd also say there is a mild mismatch on your amp/dvd unit...

The much raved about Oppo can be had for £175 which adds a healthy increase to the Amp area.

Or these seem to be some great deals:
