Freeview Ariel/Dish connection

Hi

The area I live in has a very poor freeview reception. I therefor joined sky a couple of years ago. I'm looking at getting a new LCD panel TV but this will be in another room from my sky+ box and I cant run the scart or s-video to it.

My question is if I connect a freeview box( or something similar ?? ) antena line to one of the spare connections on my sky dish LBN will it pick up the freeview channels

Sorry if this is an utterly stupid question

Thanks

Steve D

Re: Freeview Ariel/Dish connection

you cannot plug a freeview box into a satellite dish. It must be plugged into a terrestial aerial. Maybe you are thinking of the freesat service run by sky.

Yes, buy a cheap, used Sky Digibox and connect that to your spare LNB connection. With a £20 "Freesat" card from Sky, that will get you the Free To Air programmes, plus CH4, five, Sky3, film4 etc. (But not some Freeview programmes such as E4).

Alternatively if you don't care much about Ch and Ch5, you could buy a Free To Air Satellite receiver from someone like LIDL. They do them from time to time for about £40. They have the advantage that you can receive a lot of free movie channels and you can edit the EPG to suit yourself.
